About Bin Collection Day
Bin Collection Day is a free, independent guide to household bin collections across the United Kingdom.
Who runs it
Steve K runs Bin Collection Day from the UK. He built it after one too many mornings chasing the bin lorry down the road, to make council bin days, bank holiday changes and recycling rules easy to check in one place.
The site is run by Steve K from the United Kingdom. It is not connected to any council, waste contractor or government department, and no council pays to appear on it.
What the site does
- Finds your council. Your postcode is matched to one of the UK's 361 bin-collecting councils using the official Office for National Statistics boundaries, via the free postcodes.io service.
- Sends you to the official dates. Each council publishes bin days for every address. We link to that page rather than copying dates that could go out of date.
- Helps you remember. The bin calendar turns your dates into a printable planner and phone reminders, with bank holidays flagged.
- Explains the rules. Guides, the which bin A to Z and bin colours pages cover the questions people ask after they know their day.
How we keep it accurate
Bank holiday dates come from GOV.UK. National rules, such as Simpler Recycling in England, are checked against GOV.UK guidance. Council links are reviewed regularly, and if one has moved we fall back to the official GOV.UK or nidirect finder. Read our editorial policy and data sources.
